E. Lansing Ray, editor and publisher of the St. Louis Globe-Democrat,
was invited by the British and French governments to be a part of a
twelve person delegation of newspapermen to tour the Allied Western
Front in the fall of 1918. Ray’s 152 page diary documents the journey
and his observations of the conditions in England, Scotland, Ireland,
and France. For more information about Ray and his experiences, refer
